dragons breath - anadl y ddraig (2007)
landmark wales, shortlisted competition entry
with antonia infanger

The spiritual heartland of Wales is captured in a mystical abstract woodland, where the ghost of a dragon appears and disappears in the wind. In the forest are 164 swaying trees; one for each of the districts Wales once had. Atop of every tree trunk is a ‘dragon scale’ which spins like a weather vane to point at the oncoming wind.
When approaching/leaving along the A465 these scales which appear random, align to reveal the dragon hidden on the hillside. At night lights above each tree pick out the dragon in a constellation of stars, as it watchfully guards its homeland.
